(Friendly Farmers)

Our Friendly Farmers Program

Students explore the farm and visit three of six stations one week and the other three the following week. They will engage in-depth via observation, discussion, critical thinking, and problem solving in their study of various areas and topics:

  • Learning Garden

    • Botany, soil studies, beneficials and pollinators--bugs, insects, birds and animals, space planning, gardening/farming techniques, seasons, and weather

  • Kitchen

    • Farm to Table food preparation and cooking, measurement conversion, following/creating recipes, menu planning

  • Nature around us

    • Local flora and fauna identification, birding, foraging and uses for medicinal, healing, and edible plants, weather, seasonal changes

  • Anthropological Study, language Arts/Writing

    • of plants, animals, geology, culture, and beliefs of the Luiseno Tribe that inhabited and cared for this land in the past

  • Farm Animal Husbandry

    • Animal biology, proper care techniques

  • Artistic expression using nature

Working independently and in groups they will perform tasks of scientists, biologists, botanists, geologists, anthropologists, farmers, and chefs to complete STEAM based in-class assignments and projects.
